Session Description

The session aims to explore the intersection between Clinical Legal Education (CLE) and Pro Bono work through case studies based on the initiatives undertaken by the Legal Aid and Awareness Committee (hereinafter referred to as “The Committee”) of National Law University, Jodhpur. In line with the title, Education for All, All for Education: A Clinical Legal Education Perspective, the session will emphasize the role of legal education in fostering equitable access to education and justice. Access to legal aid is often hindered by various socio-economic and institutional barriers, including lack of awareness, financial constraints, and distrust in the legal system. Through this session, participants will gain insight into how CLE and Pro Bono initiatives can address these challenges, ensuring legal empowerment for marginalized communities.

The session will highlight case studies from the Committee’s work, showcasing the practical applications of CLE and Pro Bono initiatives in promoting legal awareness, ensuring effective implementation of legislation and government schemes, and securing the rights of vulnerable groups such as women, children, and economically weaker sections.

This session will be interactive, allowing participants to engage with speakers, ask questions, and partake in discussions on the practical challenges, share their personal experience, and best practices in implementing CLE and Pro Bono initiatives in making education more accessible to children. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in collaborative problem-solving activities, gaining firsthand exposure to how law students can make a meaningful impact through legal aid and advocacy.

By drawing from the Committee’s extensive experience, the session aims to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively implement CLE and Pro Bono programs in their institutions, furthering access to justice and legal education in society.
