Anna Maria Abad
Dean, Adamson University College of Law
Ada received her law degree from the University of the Philippines in 1990 and was a first place recipient of the Sabido Foundation Award for Best Legal Research Paper in the same year (joint paper together with Atty. Evalyn Ursua). She was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1991.
She was appointed as Dean of the Adamson University College of Law in San Marcelino St., Manila in May 2015. Previously, she was the Vice-Dean of the Lyceum of the Philippines University College of Law in Makati City.
At the same time, she is also a practicing lawyer, and the managing partner in their law firm ABAD ABAD & ASSOCIATES Law Offices, with her father, Dean Antonio H. Abad, Jr.
She is the Legal Counsel for the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU), the oldest association of private educational institutions of higher learning established in 1932, with 180 member universities and colleges all over the country. From June 2010 to November 2013, she was the legal counsel for the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), the counterpart association of Catholic schools, colleges and universities.
Aside from labor and legal education, she has advocacies involving human rights, and the rights of women and children. Hence, she has accepted positions in various NGOs such as Vice-President of the Child Justice League, Corporate Secretary of the Child Protection Network Foundation Philippines, and an incorporator of the Women’s Legal Bureau. From 2012 until 2017, she was a member of the Inter-Country Placement Committee (ICPC) of the Inter-Country Adoption Board (ICAB).
