Muhamad Izwan Bin Ishak
Mr Muhamad Izwan is a Partner at legal firm known as Messrs Amirul Shahidda & Co, and currently heading the Litigation Department. I mainly focused on criminal and civil litigation matters. My forte is criminal litigation; where I had conducted criminal trials involving various type of criminal offences. I also conducted criminal appellate matters; and recently conducted the criminal review for death penalty cases for the new law.
Mr Muhamad Izwan graduated with LL.B Degree from Malaysian Local University, known as the Mara Technology University (UiTM) Shah Alam in 2016. I had presented an academic paper while I was still undergraduate at International Conference of Human Science 2015 titled “Human Rights: An Insight to Criminal Justice System in Malaysia”. During my early years of practising as an advocate and solicitor, I had joined Diplomacy Training Programme (DTP): Right For Migrants and Refugees.
I had actively involved in pro bono works, mainly doing criminal matters involving immigration offences; assisting the undocumented workers and refugees in criminal trials where they were unrepresented. I am currently assisting and providing legal representations for people under Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre and Selangor Legal Aid Centre.
I had attended numerous international conferences, namely 7th Asia Pro Bono Conference in 2018; International Conference on the Future of Law and Legal Practice 2019 as a speaker for session titled “Criminal Justice and Human Rights”; and recently attended 1st Regional Conference on Access to Legal Aid: Strengthening Access to Justice in the Global South 2023 held in New Delhi.
