Legal Service Provider Training: Working with Clients, Referrals, Legal Aid and Pro Bono Collaboration

12-14 August 2025 | Luang Prabang and Khammouane provinces, Laos

From 12–14 August, passionate legal service providers took part in hands-on training in both Luang Prabang and Khammouane Provinces, aimed at improving access to justice in Laos. Participants included 57 representatives from provincial and district justice offices, as well as national institution of justices.

The training provided a valuable space to share challenges and explore ways to strengthen the legal service system. Through discussions and practical exercises, participants enhanced their knowledge, skills, value and methods for providing effective legal consultation, especially for people in rural areas and marginalized groups.

Key sessions focused on practical skills such as conducting interviews, mock interviews, research, and referral clients, equipping participants with tools to better support those in need of legal aid. Moving forward, attendees are committed to applying these lessons in their work to expand access to justice.

This training was jointly implemented by BABSEACLE and the Ministry of Justice under the Team Europe Programme “CEGGA II.” The programme is proudly funded by Switzerland, Germany, and the EU, and implemented by GIZ to promote good governance and improve access to justice in Laos.
